In a colourful display of patriotism and cultural pride, learners and staff of Startrite Schools came together to celebrate Ghana's 68th Independence Anniversary with a vibrant pre-independence durbar under the theme: “Ghana, Our Pride, Our Heritage.” The event was held on campus and brought together students, staff, and parents in a spirited celebration of Ghana’s diverse traditions and unity.
Clad in beautiful traditional attire representing the 16 regions of Ghana, learners showcased the country's rich cultural heritage through performances, music, and dance. The atmosphere was electric as students confidently portrayed various ethnic groups, highlighting the unique identities and customs that make Ghana a beacon of unity in diversity.
A key highlight of the durbar was the exhibition of local cuisine from across the regions. Learners and teachers collaborated to prepare and present traditional dishes such as banku and tilapia, fufu with light soup, tuo zaafi, kenkey, and waakye, offering guests a taste of Ghana’s culinary wealth. These delicacies reflected not only the diversity of the country but also the sense of community that defines the Ghanaian spirit.
Young cultural ambassadors assumed symbolic roles as chiefs and queens, adding a royal flair to the occasion. With regalia, beads, and ceremonial processions, they educated attendees on traditional governance and the values of respect, leadership, and heritage.
“We want our students to understand that learning goes beyond textbooks,” remarked one of the event organizers. “By experiencing the sights, sounds, and tastes of our nation’s heritage, they learn to honour the past while building a better future.”
The durbar reaffirmed Startrite Schools’ commitment to holistic education rooted in faith, identity, and excellence. As the nation marks another milestone in its journey, Startrite remains proud to raise future leaders grounded in values and guided by culture.
